By accessing or using the Inappropriate History website (“Site”) and any related services (collectively, “Services”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1.2 Modifications
Inappropriate History (“we,” “us,” “our”) reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect upon posting. Your continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

1.3 Eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Site.

  • If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian’s permission.

1.4 Account Registration
Some Services require registration. You agree to:

  1. Provide accurate, current, and complete information.

  2. Maintain and promptly update your account information.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Richmond, Virginia.

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, without notice, for violation of these Terms or any applicable law.

Terms and Conditions:

Applies to All Classes, Courses, Products, and Programs Offered by Inappropriate History

These Terms and Conditions govern all purchases, registrations, and participation in courses, classes, programs, and products offered through Inappropriate History. By submitting payment, registering a participant, or accessing content through our platform, you (the parent, guardian, or participant age 18 or older) agree to the following:

1. Eligibility & Enrollment

  • Programs are open to eligible age groups as stated in each course listing.

  • Digital literacy and a commitment to complete assigned work respectfully are required.

  • We reserve the right to decline or refund enrollment if a participant is ineligible or unable to meet expectations.

2. Parental Consent & Liability Waiver

  • Parents/guardians provide full consent for students under 18 to participate in live sessions, independent work, and public sharing of work.

  • Inappropriate History is not liable for claims arising from participation except in cases of proven gross negligence.

3. Course Format & Participation

  • Live classes follow the schedule listed per course, with expected attendance and assignment deadlines.

  • Participants may miss up to 4 sessions per academic year; makeup work is available at the instructor’s discretion.

  • Repeated unexcused absences or disruptive behavior may result in dismissal without refund.

4. Tuition, Payment Methods & Refund Policy

  • Tuition and fees are posted per course or product.

  • Accepted payment methods: Stripe (credit/debit), PayPal, ACH/e-Check (where enabled), and Buy-Now-Pay-Later (Afterpay, Klarna, Affirm).

  • All financing terms and interest rates are set by the payment processor.

Program Credit & Refunds

  • Tuition is not refundable as currency. Program Credit may be issued under certain conditions.

  • Requests must be made via email and are subject to non-refundable fees (e.g., processing, platform, admin).

  • Scholarships are non-refundable and non-creditable.

  • Full Program Credit (minus fees) is available for written requests made within 14 calendar days of purchase.

  • 50% Program Credit (minus fees) is available for requests made after the 14-day window but prior to the course start date.

  • No Program Credit is available once the course has started unless under the Emergency Exception Clause.

Emergency Exception Clause: Up to 50% cash refund (net of fees) may be granted for documented hardship cases, outlined below.

All requests must be emailed to Support@inappropriatehistory.com. Requests will be acknowledged within five (5) business days, and, if approved, Program Credit will be posted to the student’s account within fourteen (14) business days.

Non-Refundable Deductions (Always Retained)

All Program Credit amounts will be reduced by unrecoverable service costs including:

  • Original transaction processing fees and additional fees if applicable:

    • Stripe: 2.9% + $0.30

    • PayPal: 3.49% + $0.49

    • Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) services (e.g., Affirm, Klarna, Afterpay): 5.99%–8.5% or more

    • International and currency conversion surcharges

  • Dispute or chargeback processing fees (typically $15–$30)

  • ACH/e-Check return fees (typically $4–$15)

  • Costs of digital platform access or licensing already issued

  • Administrative processing fee: $55 per request

If the Program Credit does not cover these costs, the student or purchaser may be invoiced for the outstanding balance.

Emergency Exception Clause

In documented cases of significant family hardship, medical emergencies, or relocation outside of the U.S., the Program Director may authorize a partial cash refund of up to 50% of tuition paid, net of non-refundable fees. Documentation is required. All emergency refund decisions are final.

By registering, you acknowledge that tuition is not refundable as currency and that any credit is granted solely at the discretion of Inappropriate History under the terms above. You also confirm that all listed non-refundable fees and administrative costs will be retained from any eligible Program Credit.

Expiration of Program Credit
All approved Program Credit must be used within 12 months of the date of issuance unless otherwise stated in writing.
Program Credit is non-transferable, may not be rolled over into future enrollment periods beyond one academic year, and holds no cash value.
Unused Program Credit will expire automatically after the stated period and will not be reissued or extended.

5. Publishing Rights & Intellectual Property

  • Students retain copyright to original work.

  • By enrolling, you grant Inappropriate History a non-exclusive license to publish student work with attribution.

  • You may revoke this license with written notice.

6. Media & Display Release

  • Permission is granted to Inappropriate History to use student names, age, bios, and non-identifiable visuals for educational or promotional use.

  • Parents may opt out by written request.

7. Privacy & Data Use

  • We collect only essential information. No data is sold or shared beyond necessary use.

  • All data is securely stored and COPPA/GDPR compliant.

8. Website & Analytics Tools

  • Our platforms may use cookies, analytics, or embedded tools (e.g., YouTube, Google).

  • Public work may be accessed through QR codes or shared links.

  • No personal contact info is published.

9. Code of Conduct

  • Respectful participation is required.

  • Harassment, bullying, or plagiarism will result in warnings and possible dismissal.

10. Technology Use & Parent Responsibility

  • Students will use Zoom, Google Workspace, and web-based tools.

  • Parents are responsible for ensuring a safe, supervised digital environment.

11. Tech Requirements

  • Reliable internet, compatible device, and quiet workspace are required.

  • We are not liable for missed participation due to personal tech issues.

12. Force Majeure

  • We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond our control (e.g., natural disasters, platform outages).

13. Modifications

  • Terms may be updated. Continued participation constitutes acceptance.

14. Dispute Resolution & Law

  • Governed by Virginia law. Parties agree to attempt mediation before litigation.
